Vegan Asam Sour Fish 亚参素鱼空心菜汤

asam fish kang kong

What's cooking today ?

Well, it's our favourite faux fish dish, the sour Asam fish with kang kong. This home cooked dish is garnished with cut ginger pieces and sliced tomatoes. This is really delicious, and the ingredients are so simple, you can do it at home.

When you eat the asam fish soup, you don't have to worry about the errant fish bone becoming lodge in your throat, and then for some very anxious moments, you will be wondering are you going to be alright ? Will you make it through the day ? Are you going to survive the ordeal ? Do you need to get to the doctor, and is the doctor going to fix the problem for you ??

When you are in that very agonizing and anxious moments, with a bent but sharp fish bone lodge somewhere in your oesophagus, do remember the pain of the piercing fish bone.. Remember the pain of the fish hook, it feels exactly the same !!

Remember the tons of fish being hauled off the nets of the sea, and killed in broad daylight with merciless blows of clubs on the deck of the fishing boat.

Remember your pain, and remember the pain of the fish which we trauled from their habitat, we killed and hunted relentlessly until the species die almost extinct, and the resources of the sea becomes depleted.

Remember the pain, and switch to a life saving vegan lifestyle! It is the only lifestlye that guarantees our continuity and perpetuity and the safety of humans and all living beings !! Remember that the fish has every right to live, just as you do, and spare them their lives.

Live the vegan lifestyle and say goodbye to fish bone forever !

Traditional Filipino Vegetarian Dish

Photobucket

Throughout civilisation, the earliest of our ancestors have always been vegetarians, it is so in Mexico, India, China and Philippines.

In Philippines, this is the traditional vegetarian dish - green bean soup, or mung bean soup with kang kong vegetable and some onions to garnish.

We need to go back to the simple ways... we need to give up our killing aura and killing tendency.. That is the way back to salvation which is such an urgent issue now that we have the spectre of global warming hanging in our atmosphere.

Be Veg. Return to Kindness. Live Simply. Live in harmony with nature, sparing all lives and thus our own lives will also be spared.

Quick and easy instant vegan noodle cooking tips

instant-noddle 1

One of these packs of vegetarian noodles contains ten cakes of dried instant noodles.

For those always in a hurry, cooking up a delicious noodle meal is simple and easy.

Here's the tip. Take out one cake and put in a bowl. Pour hot, boiling water into the bowl and let the noodle soak in the hot water. After about 10 minutes or so, the noodles will become loose and absorb the water, making them bloated.

Next, heat up a frying pan with some oil and add in your favourite vegetables to cook. After a short while of stir frying, add in the noodles as the last step, season to taste and a delicious meal is ready !!

For even shorter cooking time, you can take out one of those packs of vegan pre-cooked rendang meat and pour them into the frying pan together with the noodles. You can serve up a quick meal in less than 15 minutes, which is all the time it takes !

Stir Fry Noodle

vegan fried noodle

Simple Home Vegan Cooking! Here's a recipe for stir fry noodle, any kind of noodle will do, whether fresh or dried, even instant noodles. If you are using instant noodles, try to boil them first, then drain away the liquid, that way you get rid of any wax attached to them. Also the seasoning that comes with instant noodle usually contain MSG, and you should throw them away and use vegetarian seasoning powder which is free of MSG.

Ingredients:
1) 3 vegetarian fish balls
2) 3 oyster mushrooms
3) half bowl of chick peas
4) half bowl of bean sprouts
5) half bowl of mixed veggies, carrots, peas, corns
6) 2 small vegetarian sausage.
7) 1 packet dried noodle
8) 2 teaspoon vegetarian seasoning
9) 1 tablespoon vegetarian cooking oil
10) 1 teaspoon salt
11) 2 teaspoon dark and light soy sauce

Preparation:
1) Boil a small pot of water. When it is boiling, throw in the dried noodle
and boil for 2 minutes. You can use instant noodle, but discard the seasoning
packet as it has MSG inside. Drain the noodle dry and put in a plate.

2) Cut the chick peas into halves.

3) Slice the vegetarian sausage into small pieces.

4) If using frozen mixed veggies, defrost it in a small bowl of water.

5) Slice the vegetarian fish ball into 4 pieces.

6) chop off the bean sprout roots and take off the black skin.

7) prepare a small bowl of vegetarian seasoning, add some water to dissolve it, and stir well together with light and dark soy sauce. You can use maggi sauce as alternative.

Cooking:

1) Put the oil into a frying flat pan or Chinese wok and heat for a while.

2) Put in the chick peas and vegetarian fish balls, stir fry for 2 minutes and cover.

3) Put in the vegetarian sausage, mixed veggies, and stir fry another 2 minutes.

4) Finally put in the bean sprouts and tear off the oyster mushroom into manageable pieces.

5) Pour the seasoning mixture into the vegetables and cover the pan, let it cook for 5 minutes.

6) Add more water if necessary, it is alright to have some sauce which will be soaked up by the noodle.

7) Pour in the pre-cooked noodle, and stir fry thoroughly until the noodle soaks up all the flavourful seasonings. Add salt to taste if preferred.

Simple vegan cooking - homey porridge

vegan porridge

This a simple home cooking recipe for a delicious and nuitritious vegan porridge.

If you have some over-night rice, or rice left over in your rice cooker from last evening's
dinner, then you can cook up a delicious meal of vegan porridge.

Here is the ingredient list.

Ingredients:
1) 4 dried shitakae mushrooms
2) cabbage leaves
3) kang kong or other green vegetables
4) frozen vegetarian fish slices
5) 4 vegetarian dumplings
6) 3-4 oyster mushroom
7) 1 plate of overnight fried rice
8) vegetarian seasoning
9) dry fried shallots
10) salt
11) pepper

Preparation:

1) Dip the dried shitakae mushrooms in a small bowl of water for about 15-20 minutes, making sure that
the mushroom is completely submerged in water. After the mushroom has soften enough, cut off the stem
and throw it away. The rest of the mushroom to cut in long slices.

2) While the mushrooms are softening, prepare another small bowl with some water and tear off some cabbage
leaves to let it soak in the water. Add a little salt to the water to remove any pesticide if the cabbage
is not organic cabbage. The cabbage leaves should be torn in small pieces to make sure it can be cooked thoroughly
and fast.

3) cut the kang kong or other green vegetables into small slices, again, to shorten the cooking time.

4) Defrost the frozen vegetarian fish slice or vegetarian dumplings by letting it stand in a bowl at room temperature.

Cooking:

The cooking method is simple and fast, you should be able to cook up a meal in half an hour's time.

First boil some water in a pot using medium heat. Put in the softened mushroom slices and cabbage leaves which takes
longer to cook. After about 15 minutes add in the kang kong leaves and vegetarian fish slices.

When the vegetables are starting to boil, pour in the plate of over-night rice. If the rice is not enough, you can add
some kway teow or thin horfun noodles to supplement. Pour in the oyster mushroom at the same time.

Add the vegetarian seasonings, pepper and salt, to taste.

Once the porride starts to boil again, put in the dumplings, and let the porridge boil for a minute or two.

Turn off the fire and add the dry fried shallots (optional)

Let the porridge cool down and serve.

For new vegetarians who are used to meat eating, the dry shallots and pepper spices are welcome and familiar to them.

For long time vegans, these additional spices are not necessary as most vegans will prefer a milder taste.
